KUNG
FU
This class consists of authentic traditional WuShu training.
Traditional WuShu, also known as KungFu (term often used in the West to refer
to Chinese martial arts), remains to be identified as the most visually
graceful yet powerful martial art for all ages. Traditional WuShu is also
characterized by its animal mimicry – Tiger and Crane – and by its accurately
swift kicking and punching techniques in both offensive & defensive
techniques. We train basics or solo exercises, forms or routines, applications
or two men drills and weapons
The basic training involves rudimentary techniques and
simple movements that are performed repeatedly, conditioning exercises
including stances, stretching, throwing and jumping. The forms or routines are series
of predetermined movements combined so they can be practiced as one linear set
of movements. The forms contain both literal, representative and
exercise-oriented forms of applicable techniques which would be extracted,
tested and trained by students through applications. The weapons are used for
conditioning the body as well as developing coordination.
The physical training and mastery of the techniques brings stamina
and confidence in oneself and is often coupled with understanding of the deep
philosophical significance of its practice.
This is a high cardio workout with emphasis on stretching
& body conditioning.
TAI
CHI CHUAN
Practiced by both young and old persons, Tai Chi Chuan is
considered to be an internal style of Chinese Martial Art. It is practiced for both its defense training
and its health benefits. Tai Chi
Chuan's training forms are especially known for
being practiced at what most people categorize as slow movement.
The training involves two primary features: the first being
the solo form (ch'üan or quán, 拳), a
slow sequence of movements which emphasize a straight spine, breathing and a natural range of motion; the
second being different styles of pushing hands (tui shou,
推手)
for training movement principles of the form with a partner and in a more
practical manner.
The training of these techniques brings tranquility
and confidence in oneself and is often coupled with understanding of the
deep philosophical significance of its practice.
